What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture has been used historically in Asian traditions as the go to treatment for many health conditions. Traditional Chinese acupuncture involves inserting ultra-thin needles into specific points on the skin,  Needling these  "acupoints” relieves pain by stimulating endorphin release, the body's natural pain-relief chemicals, and regulating serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with mood.

How Does it Work?

Researchers have documented inflammation reduction, increased circulation, white blood cells and energy, lowered blood pressure, regulation of the immune system, and balancing of hormones as a result of acupuncture treatment. It also decreases cortisol in the body, the harmful hormone linked to chronic stress, weight gain, metabolic syndrome and a variety of chronic diseases. When acupuncture is used locally for pain, it creates a micro-injury in the area of insertion, bringing blood flow  to promote healing.

How Does it Feel?

Acupuncture is rarely painful. The pins are less than the diameter of a human hair. They glide between tissues with little or no discomfort. Many clients experience a deep, healing sleep during treatment. For optimal safety, sterilized needles are used which are disposed of after each use.
